What is Root Access? Do I need it?
Posted by Alpha Daramy on 18 January 2008 03:27 AM

Root access is full access to a server machine. The system administrator can allow only certain users to see certain areas and access certain files and applications. Root access is best left to web hosting providers in order to keep the server running smoothly. Unless you have your own server, either dedicated or virtual, you will not need root access.
