What is an FTP account?

FTP Accounts allow you to access (browse, upload or download) your web site's files through a protocol called FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

You will need a third party FTP program (called FTP Client) to access your files.  A good FTP client we recommend is called FileZilla and it's free to download and use.  Visit https://filezilla-project.org/ to download FileZilla.

You can login to a FTP via the FTP client by entering your hosting account's IP address (provided to you in your account login information email that was sent to you after account set up), username and password.

If your hosting account is set up on a Linux server, upload your files to the "public_html" folder and if you're hosting account is a Windows server, upload your files to the "httpdocs" folder.
